Studio 804
On May 4, 2007, a EF5 tornado leveled the town of Greensburg, Kansas, destroying 95% of the homes and businesses there. The devastated town decided to rebuild their community as a “green city,” a model of sustainability.
That’s where Studio 804, a design/build program at the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Urban Planning, came in. In December 2007, the students of Studio 804 committed to designing and constructing a sustainable prototype in Greensburg.
So when students called LP asking for donations of engineered wood products, we felt privileged to contribute OSB sheathing, roofing, sub-flooring, I-Joists and LVL to this impressive undertaking.
See the story and beautiful results of the prototype design/build on the Studio 804 website at http://www.studio804.com.
