LP Hanceville Shares Water Wisdom with Local Fourth Graders
Our mill in Hanceville, Alabama, again participated in the annual Cullman County Water Festival in April 2007, helping more than 1,100 fourth-graders understand all aspects of the water supply. Instructors held 30-minute talks and demonstrations that were repeated throughout the day. Students attended three hands-on activities and a 45-minute presentation by a magician who focused on environmental issues.
The program is held in conjunction with Wallace State Community College. LP Hanceville gives the program financial support as well as volunteer class presenters and assistants.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn about the importance of clean water and its effect on our lives and the impact on the environment,” said HR Manager Susan Guthrie . “These students are our future, and we need to teach them that water is a natural resource and what everyone must do to protect it.”
